1996 Fender Stratocaster American Standard 011-0402-700 Sunburst + Maple Fretboard 50th Anniversary + Custodia Rigida DescriptionMade in the Corona plant in California, USA, this is a very playable Fender Strat in a ‘hard to find’ semi-translucent candy apple red finish.
This particular Stratocaster was made in ‘96 and celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Fender Musical Instrument Company - history in the making. As you can see on the back of the headstock, it still has its gold commemorative sticker on the back of the headstock.
As pictured, there’s a ding noticeable on the top edge behind the input jack and some player wear on the fretboard at frets five and eight. The whammy bar and original case have gone AWOL. It has a plastic hardshell case although much of the lining is now missing.
Of course, as the favourite of countless artists from Knopfler to Vaughan, the Stratocaster really requires no introduction. Strats are famously easy to play, so it’s no wonder that they have been the first ‘proper’ guitar for scores of budding guitarists throughout the ages. The diversity of sound also plays a big part in this, making it suitable for a wide variety of genres at the flick of a switch.
No matter what you usually play, picking up a Stratocaster is like visiting an old friend and this collector’s edition is no exception.

Strat tagsFender strat Beautiful 3-tone Sunburst, made in the USA, Fender American Standard Stratocaster guitar. 50th anniversary commemorative sticker on the the back of head-stock. This guitar is in good condition. No case is included. All original parts and hardware, except for the strings and the nut. Brand new Graph Tech nut and not the crummy Cyclovac one it came with. Big improvement on tone! Original whammy bar included! Great sounding guitar, NO BUZZING on the neck! This guitar has been well broken in and is very comfortable to play! Familiar Stratocaster tone, with very little noise from the single-coils. There are a few nicks and scratches; typical for what you'd see on a 15 year old guitar, but none go through to the wood. I tried to photograph some of the minor dents and scratches, but the camera doesn't pick them up well. Along the fret-board there are a few places where the finish is chipped, but this doesn't affect playability. Actually, it gives the guitar a well played look, very cool. The back of the neck has a small chip in the finish. I can also provide additional pictures upon request. This guitar will be double boxed with plenty of protective packing materials.
